WATERSAVER PATIOSCAPE COUPON
Convert grass into a beautiful, functional, outdoor living space with help from our Patioscape Coupon. Transform your outdoor space from bland to beautiful.
How It Works
-
STEP 1: Take Photos
Take photos of where you plan to remove grass and install your new patio.
-
STEP 2: Apply
Apply online for the $100 Coupon by Oct. 15 and attach the photo you took of the location of your future patio.
-
STEP 3: Remove Lawn and Sprinklers
Remove at least 200 square feet of grass per coupon and any sprinklers. That’s about the size of an average parking space. No permanent irrigation is allowed under or on the patios. If you have an irrigation system, take pictures of any sprinkler heads, valves, drip lines or other irrigation components you have removed to comply with the program requirements.
-
STEP 4: Create Patioscape
Purchase at least 160 square feet of flagstone, pavers or stepping stones to create a contiguous, pervious, 200-square-foot patioscape. Your coupon must be redeemed by Nov. 15. After you redeem your coupon, you will receive an email with a link to submit photos for inspection. Save that email.
-
STEP 5: Send Final Photos
Once you’ve completed your patio, take photos and find the email we sent you when you redeemed your coupon. Open the inspection form in the email and attach your photos to that form and send it to SAWS by Nov. 30. Do not attach to the email.
-
STEP 6: Conservation Review
Photos will be reviewed to determine success. Those whose projects did not meet the criteria for success will be contacted via email with ideas on how to make them successful. Until then they are ineligible for additional programs.
Coupon covers only a portion of the costs at participating vendors.
As you envision your new patioscape, take the time to measure the area you plan to dig up. The patio must be at least 10 feet wide and pervious (let water through). The coupon cannot be used to create a pathway or to purchase rock.
Customers will receive 3 WaterSaver Rewards points for successfully completing their final inspection (limit 3 points per year).
Got Sprinklers?
If you have an irrigation system, you must remove all the sprinkler heads and drip lines in the area where you will install beds or patios. Take photos to document your system before and after removal.
We have No-Contact Irrigation Consultations now available. Review our Irrigation Design Rebate program requirements. If you believe you will be removing enough irrigation to qualify for an Irrigation Design Rebate, schedule a No-Contact Irrigation Consultation to receive a rebate offer before you do any work.
To request a No-Contact Irrigation Consultation, call 210-704-SAVE (7283). If you have a current rebate offer from a consultation within the past 12 months, let conservation staff know when you call.
Whether you are trying for an irrigation rebate or not, take multiple before-and-after pictures of your irrigation system components such as heads, valve boxes or other components. You will need to submit them to complete the coupon and qualify for any Irrigation Design Rebate offer.

The Fine Print

All WaterSaver coupons, including Landscape and Patioscape, must be redeemed by Nov. 15, 2021.
Patioscapes must be constructed in a way that allows rain to infiltrate the ground (pervious). Concrete, mortar, asphalt or other impervious construction is not allowed.
The area prepared for the patioscape should be free of debris and have a hard packed, yet pervious sub-soil to build a proper patio foundation. Base and fill material will be required to construct a functional patio, but are not covered by the coupon.
Coupons are for new patioscapes that replace grass and irrigation (if present in the project area). Recipients may not use this coupon for existing non-grass areas or existing patios.
SAWS does not guarantee availability nor dictate prices for participating vendors.
The customer must agree to allow a post-inspection by a SAWS representative. Customers are required to submit photos for the final inspection by Nov. 30. WaterSaver Rewards points will not be awarded for submissions past this date.
SAWS reserves the right to use photos submitted on this application for program promotions. Identifying information such as customer name and address will not be used on selected photos.
Program availability may be subject to budget limitations.
