About This Plant
Fun sun or partial shade. Perennial, with mounding foliage up to 24 inches tall and wide. Clusters of small, intricate pale green flowers appear throughout the year, followed by conspicuous green seed follicles.
The wavy leaf margins resemble some primrose leaves, hence the species name “oenotheroides.”
Milkweed is the only host plant for monarch caterpillar.
Maintenance
None, beyond the care needed to establish. Aphids are likely to infest any milkweed, but they aren’t really a problem. They can be squished by hand or sprayed off with soapy water. Treating aphids will (obviously) wipe out the monarch caterpillars too.
