About This Plant

Sun or shade; evergreen with small, somewhat wooly leaves. Flowers appear in spring. An excellent native option for thin, well-drained alkaline soils. Silktassel grows more densely in sun; like evergreen sumac and Texas mountain-laurel, it can make an effective screen or hedge. It’s most commonly seen as a wild understory plant. Fruits attract birds and wildlife.
