About This Plant
Light shade; understory. Deciduous. A small tree or large shrub native to Hill Country streams, slopes and canyons, where its long taproot can reach shallow water tables.
The walnuts are small but edible and relished by wildlife. Little walnut may be mistaken for pecan, but its small size and low branching habit gives it away.
Maintenance
Occasional training and light pruning; fruit production and leaf drop necessitates some cleanup.
