About This Plant
Shade/part shade. Firespike is a dieback perennial, with big glossy foliage that freezes back to the ground every winter. (Some gardeners suggest digging them up and bringing them inside as houseplants during the cool season.)
Bright red tubeflowers appear from late summer through fall, attracting hummingbirds and butterflies.
Maintenance
Expect some supplemental water in summer in sunny locations. Cut back freely after freeze damage.
