Commercial Irrigation Design Rebate

Our commercial irrigation design rebate can offset the cost of irrigation improvements while creating a knockout landscape for your property. Ditch the entire system and receive a larger rebate.

Commercial properties are as unique as the services they provide the community. That is why Conservation will review with you your unique irrigation system needs.  Call us at 210-704-SAVE and our team will get you started.

You can be part of the solution while achieving your commercial landscape goals without relying on irrigation.

How It Works

The Commercial Irrigation Design Rebate program is currently on hold.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the SAWS Annual Irrigation Checkup deadline has been extended to June 1, 2021 and is subject to change, if needed. For all inquiries, please contact SAWS Conservation at 210-233-3443 or email irrigationcheckup@saws.org.

The commercial irrigation design rebate is available to SAWS irrigation customers ready to make permanent changes to their irrigation system that result in long-term water savings.

  • STEP 1: Complete an Annual Irrigation Checkup (If required)

Per City of San Antonio Ordinance, residential and commercial properties five (5) acres or larger and properties that used over 1 million gallons of water for irrigation in the prior calendar year with in-ground irrigation systems submit an annual irrigation checkup to the SAWS Conservation department by May 1 each year. Properties not in compliance will not be allowed to schedule a consultation until compliance requirements are met.

  • STEP 2: Give us a Call

Call 210-704-7283 to get started exploring your options. Based on your unique property, we will work with you to develop a plan which may include reviewing past water use patterns at the property and recommending irrigation changes tailored to your landscape. Changes to the irrigation system resulting in reduced water use may qualify for rebates.

  • STEP 3: System Change Rebate

If you make permanent changes to your irrigation system for a rebate, you MUST have a SAWS irrigation consultation BEFORE any work begins. A licensed irrigator must complete the work following applicable regulations. If you complete the work and schedule the final inspection within 90 days of the first consultation, you will receive a 10% BONUS!

  • STEP 4: Schedule and Pass your Final Inspection

After the work is complete, schedule the final inspection. Conservation will verify eligible changes made to the system. You will sign the final inspection agreement, irrigation report form and maximum peak season agreement if you are participating in the Custom Rebate Program. SAWS will calculate the final rebate amount and contact you by email within five (5) business days.

  • STEP 5: Rebate Check Issued

Once you have received your final rebate approval email, you will receive your check within eight (8) weeks. Checks are issued to the name on the SAWS account and mailed first class via U.S. Postal Service to the address on the final inspection agreement. If a different name or mailing address for the check is preferred, provide this information during the final inspection.

  • STEP 6: IRS Requirements

Rebates $600 or more require an IRS W-9 Form. SAWS will provide you one. You will receive a 1099 Form from SAWS for your taxes. Rebate checks will not be issued until your completed W-9 form is received by SAWS.

The Fine Print

You must have an Irrigation Consultation BEFORE you begin any work.  Work completed prior to the first consultation will not receive rebates.

Rebate offer good for 12 months from the date of the initial consultation.

The site must be in compliance with Irrigation System Check-up requirements.

Rebates are in cash. Rebates over $600 will require an IRS W-9 tax form.

Work completed within 90 days from the initial consultation offer receives a 10% bonus.

Program availability may be subject to budget limitations.

NOTE:  If your SAWS water account is more than 45 days past due and the amount of your irrigation rebate is less than the past-due balance, SAWS Conservation will issue your irrigation rebate as a credit to your SAWS water account rather than mail a check.
